Lauren and Mike are a charming couple. Going to school in the Triangle, they crossed paths and quickly swooned over one another. Lauren has that sweet shy yet giddy blush about her when Mike looks at her. They easily make one another laugh.
Their wedding is a rustic upscale charm style, so this downtown vintage vibe was perfect for the two of them. Those brick textures, old paint labels, a little cuteness at the
Parlour (best ice cream seriously!) in downtown Durham where they shared a hot chocolate.
I am a sucker for vintage, so naturally when I moved to North Carolina I saw the back of these buildings and instantly fell in love with their historic charm. There was a another large building in down town with several fish painted all over it, paint decaying over brick and since then it has been torn down for progress! NOOO, anyway, I suppose that is more of what makes these types of locations treasures, they either are treasured and preserved by the incoming tenants who want to maintain this vibe, like the many hipster vibe restaurants that have popped up in downtown Durham, or are torn down. Gotta catch them while you can! When I cam across this article about a 100 year old school chalkboard that was preserved when they just built over it leaving their lessons still on the boards, I was really intrigued. It is all about the stories really.
